Near The Citadel of Dragonflies

Your love, with stately air she flies – armed with dreams – soars aloft with honor, faith and grace. She flies free of the citadel of her kind – but she will return. . . . Just release the breeze. ***** A bridegroom asked me to create an image for his bride-to-be that included dragonflies - as she loves them. I created 5 for a series. This one is my favorite. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever.

Hidden Cluster In The Garden

Receiving the most comments on our botannicals, is "Hidden Cluster In The Garden". Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Hope Climbs Up

Gentle Blush Of Autumn

One of the most "liked" images among LinkedIn Interior Designers, Healthcare Professionals and Architects is "Gentle Blush Of Autumn". Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

The Arbor Bridge

Story: On “The Arbor Bridge” wasn’t where I wanted to stand - to take a photograph of what a I saw. . . . The sun was too hot. So, I found a hole below, near where the water cooled the air. Later, when I put the photo into my computer – I remembered that what I see isn’t always what I prefer. I painted over the photograph to share what one can see . . . when the rough edges are imagined away. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Peace In The Argonne Forest

" . . . For these have governed in our lives, And see how men have warred. The Cross, the Crown, the Scales may all As well have been the Sword." from “The Peaceful Shepherd” by Robert Frost This abstract was a finalist in the 4th Annual Artist’s Choice Art Competition, sponsored by Fusion Art. Banks Of A Better Reverie

Abstracts and Surreal

The Fallen Branch Sings Like A Cellow

“The Fallen Branch Sings Like A Cello” was inspired by listening to a rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” recorded by the Prague Cello Quartet. The low, mellow tones reassure the listener that the strength and confidence of the sound has a solid foundation. I hope for you to hear and feel your solid foundation today.

Stained Glass Forest

Above the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, in the Welsh Berwyn Mountains, resides the king of the Fae Folk and the Celtic Otherworld. Hidden in the mountains near the castle is the “Stained Glass Forest”. We see twinkles of magic and allurements. (Foundation photo by Garry Worthington, brother-in-law.)

In The Shadow Of Beauty

The original photo that provided the foundation of this work is between 40 and 50 years old, taken by my mother (now 91). The photo was cropped and toned for a foundation that would allow many versions of it to be created from it. Naturally, the original was saved in case I decide to crop and tone a different way for an altogether different approach. Upon determining a base look, I then experimented with 20 to 60 versions of it - changing colors, applying filters, embedding additional images, digitally painting them and transforming them from a recognizable photograph into this altogether new work.

The Fallen Branch Sings Like A Flute

The “Fallen Branch Sings Like A Flute” was inspired by listening to a rendition of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major. The light, sprite-like phrases float the listener into a pretty place of bliss. I hope for you to hear and feel your bliss today.

Red Riverbank

The foundation photo was of a beautiful patch of a creek bed below an arbor bridge. The 1st version of this was created in more traditional colors of blue, green and tan in an impressionistic style. It was well received in competitions - but, it didn't seem fulfilled to me. A year later, my works are wanting more vivid colors . . . and so, I disassembled the 1st version and reimagined it with deeper reds, adding some purple - and redefining some edges.

'Slender Trees' Series

The Slender Trees In Golden Glory

The Slender Trees' Red Sky

“The Slender Trees’ Red Sky” is the 2nd in a series of delicate, vulnerable flora growing against all odds . . . and it continues to grow – because it believes it must. Foundation photograph by Greer Moyer, granddaughter.

The Slender Trees

“Slender Trees” grow where soil is thin and water scarce. The sun saves them with gentle warmth. The trees face up to the rays of gold . . . and grow – all day, every day. Foundation photograph by Greer Moyer, granddaughter.

Fire Series

After The Fire

Once we shared an enticing, sheltering forest. Flames pushed through that forest - a privilege we had to share - and left it ruined with blackened grass, piles of ash and twisted metal. "After the Fire" is the 3rd image in my new Fire Series. The 2nd, "Fire Is More Than Red" will be posted tomorrow; and the 1st, "Before The Fire", on the day after. Why post them in reverse order? Perhaps, if the last image we see is the flourishing, multicolored home to generations yet unborn . . . we'll choose to share the chores of taking care of "Home". Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

In The Midst Of Fire

“To be inside the fire is to melt and choke and fear all powers greater than one’s own. The pain in flames is beyond endurance.” This digital artwork, “In The Midst Of Fire”, is the 2nd image in my new Fire Series. Foundation photos by Catharine A Deever

Before The Fire

“Before The Fire” – we sheltered in the cool and cleanly, fragrant forest. Healthy trees, ancient stones, large and little critters roamed free . . . and so did we, believing we were safe and sure of peace in the blooming beauty. This digital artwork, 3rd not 1st, in my Fire Series, is intended to be the last memory one has - a plea to avoid devastation. If only we had protected all we have and know, “Before The Fire”. Masters Of Flight And Freedom

"Masters of Flight and Freedom" gives respect to those who, through life experience, can see what others can't . . . can fly where others shouldn't . . . and fight for what others won't. Let us feed, shelter and love those whose vision, endurance and courage helps us make life worth living. Foundation photograph by Catharine A Deever

Woods Where They Stood

The story of "In The Woods Where They Stood" begins with two lovers who met every day by their favorite tree in the forest to try to understand one another. He spoke one language. She spoke another. A troll appeared. He laughed and stamped his foot . . . then, he disappeared beneath the forest floor. (Look for the spot where he left his mark.) From that moment on, what they said to each other was lovingly understood. Foundation photograph by Catharine A Deever

Three Trees and A Shadow

Inspired by Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poem "Out In The Fields" The little cares that fretted me I lost them yesterday, Among the fields above the sea, Among the winds at play, Among the lowing of the herds, The rustling of the trees, Among the singing of the birds, The humming of the bees. The foolish fears of what might happen. I cast them all away Among the clover-scented grass, Among the new-mown hay, Among the husking of the corn, Where drowsy poppies nod Where ill thoughts die and good are born-- Out in the fields with God. #Design #interiordecoration #homedecor #officedecor #abstract #contemporaryart #architecture #artgallery #art #artcollector #interiordesign #corporateinteriors #hospitalityinteriors #healthcaredecor #strength #confidence #determination #persistence

This composite photographic artwork blends Winter frost with the warming red buds of Spring. So versatile and easy to blend with the feeling you want to inspire! “Blossoming redbuds With white fur coats send chills Up and down my spine” Copyright © Clifford Woodell Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Love Steps Up

In advertising, one should always “call to action”. I am calling to the neighbors of all the community-loving people in our world - where ever they live now - to recognize our community loving-people . . . and love them back today. Foundation photograph by Catharine A Deever

The Little Red Bird House

“The Little Red Bird House” was created to guide the eye to serenity. Take deep breaths today . . . and feel well. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Wise Moon Fills Your Dawn

Shadows melt from the forest's floor; and, the moon - who guarded your night - stirs you one soft sparkle at a time. It's good to be almost awake. You can still see and feel the dream - just a little more clearly. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Red Bush Shade

"Red Bush Shade" casts cool shelter across benches that rim its pond - and lilies that float there. From your perch on the boulder, you can wriggle your toes beneath the water where ducks paddle. They are not afraid of you. You can sit as long as you please . . . to wait for the one - who is waiting for you - on the other side. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

In The Shadow Of The Willow

Sold On Saatchi Art (Click here on this image)

The Branch Bow Tie

The Story: The "Branch Bowtie" (fallen branch) did not want to lie straight and still. It wanted to twist and curl - so that the little ones would have a place to dance and dream. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Patch Of Red

The "Patch of Red" sits in a dried creek bed - where clear blue water once flowed. Blue and green grasses now grow up around it . . . and people pause to sit on purple stones to think about what once was - adapt to what is now . . . and dream of what could be - again. Foundation photograph by Catharine A Deever

From The Watch Tower

he Watch Tower has room for you - and you will not watch alone. The foundation photo was taken in the Arboretum, Overland Park, Kansas. The image was created layering water color and oil effects with the edges of each element given additional / heavier lines. My company creates art, the purpose of which is to comfort and encourage our clients in their homes and offices - to dream and conquer . . . every day. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

The Lady In The Tower . . . Knew How To Wait

“The Lady In The Tower . . . Knew How To Wait”. The stairs were guarded. There was no rope ladder hooked to her window. She could see no rescuer on the horizon. But – the moon was faithful to her. It rose and set as promised. She knew her own mind . . . and, it was only a matter of time. (Foundation photos for digital painting from C M Deever and Bob Deever.)

Dawn Beyond Control

“Dawn Beyond Control” was named from understanding that no one can command the Dawn to reveal different colors – changes in vibrancy – direction of light. We can only control the destiny we create from the Dawn. May every day in your life dawn with space to breathe, light to see . . . hope to become. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

The Long And Winding Vine

“The Long And Winding Vine” is blessed by the willow above and curves around the poles to blend into the color-filled bushes below. Half imagined, half real – the little curiosities brighten the day, suddenly so full of sun there is no reason to doubt the coming joy.

Black / White - and Shades

The Two Angel Tree

"The Two-Angel Tree" stands sturdy at the crossroad of two dirt lanes. It has been growing there since long before anyone living was born. No one knows why it is called "The Two-Angel Tree" - but no one wants to believe it has any other name. The tree welcomes tradesmen from neighboring villages who barter beneath the branches - good ladies who carry baskets of food from their kitchens to the farm fields - lovers of all ages and intentions who hide behind the wide tree's trunk - waiting for dark. No one has seen the two angels . . . but everyone knows they are there. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Roots Seeking Foundation

The soil, eroded away from the tree’s roots, leaves them exposed and thirsting for nourishment. The roots reach down for cool water flowing by. They will continue to reach – and thrive from the rain that will one day raise the creek to meet them. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Bench For Two

My "Bench For Two" is neatly placed in the woods, once wild. You follow a path beside a stream, step across an old wooden bridge - and crouch beneath the low-hanging branches . . . that hides the clean and crisp-air space where thinkers and fugitives and lost lovers go. The hide-away was meant for few . . . . Some of the few - go alone. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Strive Forward

Strive forward . . . through or around or over - but out. This image placed 2nd in the Maryland Federation of Art's "#WOMAN Competition and Art Exhibition". Model is Genita McCullough Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Shelter In The Woods

The foundation photo was taken in a wooded park during a long winter. Yet, while in this place, I did not feel cold or alone. The graceful flow of the branches, entwining each other, made me feel welcome and in another home. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Roll On (Drawing)

Made sturdy and strong – mind, body and heart – you can roll over, and through . . . and out of the land of that has no map. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

The Willow Thrives

Winter white has been replaced by Summer green. Weep no more – for joy will wake you in the morning. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Pebbles By The Stream

. . . and the pebbles, from unknown origin of stone, settled by the stream – to glisten and sing as the water rippled by. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Found By Lovers And Noon Light

“Beloved, thou hast brought me many flowers Plucked in the garden, all the summer through . . . From Sonnets from the Portuguese 44: Beloved, thou has brought me many flowers By Elizabeth Barrett Browning Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Village Bridge

After the flood, the water gentled and rippled into creeks – and then, deep into the water holes. Around the molten gold, that was the sun, a clear blue spread across the sky – and waited for peace. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Holiday Artworks

For The Purple Hearts

“For The Purple Hearts” . . . reminds us of strength, sacrifice, courage. When the challenge is great, the risk more than most will embrace, the loss few will accept – the gift of oneself is the best anyone has. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Celebration For All Seasons

Transformed from the original "Enchanted Stones Adorn The Land”, these red rocks are for those of us who may feel (at times) like just rocks in the mud. When holidays are in our minds and hearts, please remember that, like this image, you are rock-resilient . . . and that the mud around you is made of nutrients, versatility, and mysteries of the universe of and beyond us. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Holiday Hopes For You

“Holiday Hopes For You” was created in an explosion of my favorite colors I mean to gift to you: Blue – for wisdom and truth Green – for prosperity and peace Red – for sheer joy and bits of Gold – to glisten on your contribution to making the future brighter. May these blessings welcome you into your new year. Catharine

Pink Diamond In The Mud

“The Pink Diamond In The Mud” was first a rock – tan and brown. It had no facets, no varied and contrasting colors. It did not glisten or glow. Why would someone choose it . . . unless believing always precedes seeing.

Enchanted Stones Adorn The Land

Climb the rock that is higher than you – for once you have reached the top, it will be your refuge. It will be your tower against doubt. Foundation photo by Catharine A Deever

Fire and Forge

“Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an [a]instrument for his work; . . ." Isaiah 54:16
