"Bare Branch Roof" was named before I created it. During a photo shoot this summer, I was in the woods taking random shots of any view that seemed interesting . . . or ignored.
The foundation photo of this artwork was of a tree that, in summer, had no leaves. Since that tree made itself unusual among all those that had leaves aplenty, I took one photo.
When I fed the bare image into my computer, I discovered the computer didn't like the tree - regardless of the 23 versions I made to force love upon it.
So, with digital paints, I added greens and blues. For a month, this artwork sat in my computer files until this morning when I decided that it was time to share "Bare Branch Roof" with the public.
It didn't want to be shared. It wouldn't load properly onto my first social media platform.
That was a sign. So, I decided that holiday colors might make it more happy. Along with the greens and blues, I added reds and browns, gold and orange - and absolutely, purple.
From that moment on, the tree was cheerful and cooperative. I did not change the name. The tree was fine with it. The tree was confident enough without any more labeling.
