Our US great-great grandfather, Jesse Deever, was born in Pocohantas County, West Virginia, Feb. 27, 1822.  He and his wife, Mary Ellen Morgan, had 15 children in 31 years.

A minister and farmer, Jesse served in the American Civil War with his eldest son, William M. Deever - who was named after Jesse's father.

Son William was killed in the course of the war.

Jesse died July 17, 1902, at the age of 80.  Mary Ellen died three years later, July 26, 1905.

We are now searching through documents for Jesse's father, William Deever, whose ancestors will lead us back to the United Kingdom.
