Art From Love And Curiosity

"Fruited Plain Beside The Pond" placed 5th in the 2019 American Art Awards, Digital Representational category.  When I'm asked for the recipe of an award-winning artwork, I think of my grandmother who mixed bread dough by adding whatever ingredients she liked at the moment - in the amounts she thought she needed.

Generally, when on a photo shoot or examining photos given to me by family members, I begin with my purpose in mind:

"Comfort and Encourage", then I

1) Examine the bones of what I see - where are they?  what are they doing?  how do they support each other?

2) The next phase consists of experimentation inside the image via the computer.  That takes awhile because I always ask . . .  "What if?"

3) As I sense completion is near, the last tests are applied, "Does it comfort and / or encourage?"  "Can someone live in a room or office and be able to breathe in support and breathe out good will?"

The foundation photo for "Fruited Plain Beside The Pond" is just a picture.  The resulting artwork is a message of caring for and faith in the person who eventually owns it.
