“Memories of Ginsterweg” was created from a 51 year-old, faded photograph of a light tan house in southern Germany, 1969.
“Gruss Gott” (the sign on the entry) loosely translated, reads, “God’s Greetings” . . . in modern days, it means “Good Day”.
As memories warmed me of the great care, instruction and empathy I received in my year there, I adapted the architecture, colors, season and feel from the original photograph. This image more truthfully conveys my gratitude for the shelter, generosity, affection and personal growth – that strangers gave me.
They are strangers no more.
