“THE CHILD I CAN’T FORGET IN 1989 POLAND”

While traveling from Warsaw south to a conference in southern Poland in 1989, our van passed this child in the street.  He was all alone.  Of the memorable events that surrounded me on that trip - in the year that Polish people voted themselves free of Communism - I remember this child.

His smile was so sweet and pure.  For 37 years I've wondered what happened to him - and every time I think of him - I hope he's living well.
