The story of "In The Woods Where They Stood" begins with two lovers who met every day by their favorite tree in the forest to try to understand one another.

He spoke one language.  She spoke another.

A troll appeared.  He laughed and stamped his foot . . . then, he disappeared beneath the forest floor.  (Look for the spot where he left his mark.)

From that moment on, what they said to each other was lovingly understood.
