Art Inspires Gentle Thoughts

FOR THE ROOM THAT WANTS GENTLE THOUGHTS

“THE BLUE WILLOW” was inspired by a poem from Christina Rosetti – which begins with a sentiment that might be one given to a blue weeping willow tree:

“I sat beneath a willow tree,
Where water falls and calls;
While fancies upon fancies solaced me,
Some true, and some were false. . . .”

My weeping willow tree grew in the garden as green . . . but, I painted her blue because she prefers her own style and fashion . . . and is the subject of talk in an otherwise well-kept garden.
